Florence Welch Breaks Foot, Says Shows Will Be "Stripped Back"

BY Alex HudsonPublished Apr 14, 2015

Florence and the Machine are going to be touring in the coming months in support of their new album How Big, How Blue, How Beautiful, but fans shouldn't expect singer Florence Welch to be her usual animated self during these shows, since she has suffered a broken foot.

The vocalist announced on Facebook that she suffered the injury while jumping off the stage at Coachella this past weekend. Along with the message, she posted an X-ray of what is presumably her own foot.

Luckily, Florence won't be cancelling any gigs, but she said that her performances "will have to be somewhat stripped back." This means she might be in slightly subdued form when she rolls into Toronto for Bestival on June 12. She hopes to be fully recovered in time for Glastonbury Festival, which runs from June 24 to 28. This means she should be back to normal before coming to Montreal for Osheaga, which runs from July 31 to August 2.

Read Florence's statement below, and see her band's international tour schedule here. How Big, How Blue, How Beautiful arrives on June 1 through Island Records.

Hi everyone,

I'm so sorry to say, that after what was one of my favourite shows ever at Coachella, I have discovered I have broken my foot from leaping off the stage.

Unfortunately while this heals, my performances will have to be somewhat stripped back.

I'm so sorry, I'm pretty devastated, but I still want to do the shows. I understand this is not what you were expecting, but I hope its just as enjoyable. I'm going to try and make it super special for you.

By the time Glastonbury rolls around I should be back on my feet. This album was so much about making something from what was broken, so lets see what we can do with this.

All my love, Florence.
