Following the death of founding member Peter Green over the weekend, Fleetwood Mac's early years are being celebrated with a new eight-album CD box set and four-album vinyl collection simply called Fleetwood Mac 1968 to 1974. Both collections will arrive on September 4 via Warner.

The eight-CD box set features the band's records between 1969 and 1974, the years right before Lindsey Buckingham and Stevie Nicks joined the band. Albums in the set include 1969's Then Play On, 1970's Kiln House, 1971's Future Games, 1972's Bare Trees, 1973's Penguin and Mystery to Me, and 1974's Heroes Are Hard to Find, as well as a live recording from the band's 1974 performance at the Record Plant in Sausalito, CA.

In addition to the CD release, the early years vinyl collection will pull together PenguinMystery to Me and Heroes Are Hard to Find, plus the 1974 concert and a 7-inch single on wax. The 140-gram vinyl is cut from the original analogue masters, courtesy of Chris Bellman at Bernie Grundman Mastering. The four discs are also "presented in replica sleeves made to look like the original pressings."

Both collections are available for pre-order through Amazon. You can also find the limited-edition coloured vinyl collection exclusively through Rhino
