FKA twigs is the latest artist to share news of a creative quarantine, revealing that she recorded a follow-up to last year's Magdalene while isolating due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Speaking with the Grammy Museum for its "Programs at Home" series, the artist told moderator Scott Goldman that she "ended up, in actual fact, making a whole album in quarantine."

"I just decided one day. It was kind of, maybe one-third of the way through and I just said, 'you know what, I'm just going to make an album,' and I just went and did it," she explained.

FKA twigs shared that her primary collaborator on the album is the "amazing artist and producer" El Guincho, adding, "I did the whole thing with pretty much all of the collaborators over FaceTime."

FKA twigs explained that she is "just finishing" the effort, and did not give an album title or release date. In sharing more about the process, the artist also shared that she began learning to play piano and read sheet music.

"I was working with people I'd never met in real life and we were doing the whole thing over FaceTime and it was great because I couldn't go in the studio at the beginning," she continued. "So I was getting beats and having to work from MP3s, and then I would writing melodies in the day with [El Guincho] and then in the night I would call some of my friends in America who made music and I would have a glass of wine and chill and write lyrics and talk about what the song's about."

This year has seen FKA twigs collaborate with Slingbaum, Ty Dolla $ign and more.

Exclaim! named Magdalene one of the 20 Best Pop and Rock Albums of 2019.
