Fischerspooner Announce North American tour

BY Josiah HughesPublished Mar 5, 2009

As previously announced, electroclash pin-ups Fischerspooner are handing out some Entertainment with their new full-length, which is set for an April 5 release date. Well, the tour dates that the duo promised have been announced and as expected, they're bringing with them a wildly pretentious stage show.

Kicking off in Philly on May 6, a press release from the band makes the tour sound like a first-year art school nightmare. "Legend amongst outsider teenagers and sophisticated arts elite alike, the shows are renowned for their rich mix of art, dance, music and fashion... a Fischerspooner show is a phantasmagoric experience that is all the way live." For this particular "phantasmagoric experience," the band teamed with the Wooster Group during their production of Hamlet, and integrated what they learned into "their own brand of postmodern showmanship." They've also trained with a choreographer for some "intricate and explosive dances that blend a vigorous future pop aesthetic with classical and modern technique." Sounds like it could provide some unintentional entertainment of its own.

The tour will conclude with a show in Toronto on June 2.
