Vancouver twin sister duo Fionn are one of Exclaim!'s favourite emerging Canadian artists, and they are continuing their exploration of sparkling electronic pop with a video for the new single "Let Me Go." This is the latest track from their freshly announced EP, Candid Constellations, due out May 21 on 604 Records.
The song follows in the vein of Fionn's recent singles with a sleek synth sound that goes from dreamy to thumping and danceable. The chorus has traces of '70s disco and '90s Eurodance, but it adds up to something distinctly modern — the referential lyric "I just can't get you out of my head" should give you some idea of the vibe.
The accompanying visuals show the Finn-Morris sisters dancing at night against the backdrop of the city skyline. They also sing into some retro telephones on a stylish sound stage.
The sisters said in a joint statement, "'Let Me Go' is a song about giving someone the power in a relationship and wanting to be free of the spell they have you under. We wanted the video to be feminine and dramatic, portraying the sweet upbeat nature of the song along with the darker elements of the production and subject matter."
