The Elwins Write Fans' Custom Songs, Get Their Own Canadian Stamps

BY Alex HudsonPublished Feb 13, 2015

The Elwins have an album called Play for Keeps coming out on February 24 through Hidden Pony, but that's not the only new item that the band have to sell. They group's online store now includes a couple of rather unusual items: custom-written songs and Canadian postage stamps.

First, the songs: the Elwins' website indicates that fans can hire the band to make them a personalized song. These are available in limited quantities and cost $150. You'll have to contact the band for more information, so we're not quite sure how these will be recorded and if there are any restrictions. (For example, could a company hire the Elwins to write them a jingle?)

All in all, this project sounds a bit like the one Hollerado undertook when releasing their album White Paint. Their custom-written tunes will be coming out in March as 111 Songs.

Also, a bit amazingly, the Elwins are also selling Canada Post stamps featuring the Play for Keeps cover artwork. These cost $20 for a pack of 12, and they will ship out the same day as the album is released, on February 24. They're available here.

Look for Play for Keeps to stream on Exclaim.ca ahead of its release. Scroll past the band's tour schedule below to hear the cut "So Down Low."
