The Elwins 'Play for Keeps' on Sophomore Album, Book Canadian Tour

BY Alex HudsonPublished Dec 8, 2014

This fall, Ontario pop rock charmers the Elwins signed with Hidden Pony Records with promises that a new album would arrive in 2015. Now, they've formally announced the LP and given us a taste of the record. Plus, they've booked a Canadian tour.

The album is called Play for Keeps, and it will be out on February 24 via Hidden Pony. Most of the songs were written and recorded near to home in Keswick, ON, just outside of Toronto. The drums were captured at 6 Nassau Studio in Toronto, while the keys were laid down at a friend's space in the city's Annex neighbourhood.

The album artwork is above. For a taste of the music, watch a lyric video for "So Down Low" at the bottom of this page.

The band said in a statement about this crunchy, Shins-flavoured pop tune, "The song is about feeling awful about things. It captures that feeling you have when you realized you really messed something up. We even threw King Kong in there, because sometimes you feel like no matter how hard you try to do the right thing you can still end up being a monster."

Below, see the band's Canadian tour schedule. They have a couple of Quebec dates this month, and they'll be travelling out to the West Coast in early 2015.
