Toronto's Elrichman Unleashes His Inner "Wilde Childe" on New Single

It's the second single from his upcoming album 'Demolition Derby'

Watch out, streets of Toronto: Elrichman is on the loose. As the pop-rock musician born Paul Erlichman prepares his third album Demolition Derby for its June 3 release on Remains Records, he's shared a second single, the similarly chaotically titled "Wilde Childe."

To the undiscerning, "Wilde Childe" is breezy and pleasant, underscored by jangle-pop harmonies and acoustic guitar strums. But Erlichman's vocals, affable as they may sound, paint a different picture, discussing the chaos and destruction he can't help but conjure wherever he goes: "They say I am a wild child, you know that much is clear / From my head to my toes, it's all that I know, is to live without fear."

You can watch his maelstrom of madness in action with the accompanying video directed by Luke Divers, which finds Erlichman wreaking havoc in many ways. He plays basketball in a dapper suit, bikes around in a construction vest and hard hat (how irresponsible!), tosses a stack of papers with abandon and runs around in a generally frenzied manner. A skateboard and recorder only add to the fury, and the sheer tension of his attempt at cooking an egg will have you on the edge of your seat.

Said Erlichman in a statement about the video:

The video reflects the inner turmoil blazing within a person who sees themself as being truly "wilde". The drabness of the early spring day on which the video was shot belies the fire within. The video is a very serious journey to the centre of the self, and is also at the vanguard of the "shitty parkour" revival.

"Wilde Childe" is the second Demolition Derby track to be released, after lead single "A Jamiroquain Werewolf in London, ON." Demolition Derby is the follow-up to 2020's Heaven's Mayor.
