Egyptrixx Readies Debut Album

BY Josiah HughesPublished Nov 26, 2010

Toronto-based electronic artist David Psutka has garnered major attention for his work under the Egyptrixx moniker. The classically trained pianist has drawn on influences as wide as techno, house and dubstep for his DJ sets and limited releases. This spring, however, he will up the ante with Bible Eyes, his debut album.

As a press release explains, Bible Eyes "is celestial club music; jeep music for a Saturn desert. There is an exhilarating right-but-wrong tension that all of Egyptrixx' tracks share -- a shifting balance between melodic and dissonant, rapturous and antisocial." The release goes as far as suggesting that the album could be the Music Has the Right to Children of 2011, referencing Boards of Canada's 1998 debut.

Bible Eyes will be available on February 9 via Night Slugs. Half of the album's tracks can be streamed on Egyptrixx's MySpace page, while a video for the song "Start From the Beginning" can be viewed below.

This month, Egyptrixx will complete a tour in Australia, with European dates in December. There are also scheduled shows in Toronto and Montreal. All dates can be viewed below.
