Long-running new wave act Duran Duran have been hit with a controversy after frontman Simon Le Bon was accused of sexually assaulting a fan. The incident dates back to 1995, and he has issued a statement denying it took place.
In a Facebook post that has since been made private (but has been quoted by the BBC and the Guardian), Shereen Hariri claimed that she worked at a record store in Los Angeles. During a Duran Duran autograph signing, she alleged that Le Bon grabbed her "butt cheek" and started "making his way down my butt to my genitals."
Hairiri did not request any financial compensation from the band but instead an apology from Le Bon. Rather than do that, Le Bon denied that the incident ever happened.
