Animal Collective aren't up to much these days, and Panda Bear's forthcoming Tomboy is still without a firm release date. Nevertheless, the man also known as Noah Lennox has been keeping busy, as he contributed vocals to the Ducktails track "Killin' the Vibe."
With its dreamy jangle and patchwork of overlaid guitar riffs, the song evokes the beach-ready blur of Real Estate -- a band that Ducktails mastermind Matt Mondanile also belongs to. The hook comes during the breaks between verses, when Panda Bear offers up wordless vocals that evoke the Beach Boys with their gloriously ascending melodies.
The song appears on the upcoming Ducktails III: Arcade Dynamics. This new version is sent to anyone who pre-orders the album on vinyl or through iTunes. The LP is out January 18 via Woodsist.
