Ducks Ltd. Drop New Single "Sheets of Grey"

The tune is among "the oldest in [their] catalogue"

Toronto's Ducks Ltd. burst onto the scene with their critically acclaimed Royal Mountain/Carpark Records debut last year, and today, they've followed up with brand new standalone single "Sheets of Grey."

"This song is actually one of the oldest in our catalogue," lead singer and guitarist Tom McGreevy said of the tune in a release. "We wrote it around the same time as [Ducks Unlimited's] Get Bleak, or maybe a little bit after, and played it live a bunch, but never quite finished it."

He added: "It's about the inertia of depression, and how hard it can be to break out of those cycles, but also about the pleasure of embracing that state. There is a certain, temporary comfort to be found in the abyss! Somewhere right before it inevitably becomes extremely awful."

According to McGreevy, the track was left off of 2021's Modern Fiction "as it didn't quite thematically fit with the other songs," but the group are excited to share it now.

Their latest release is decidedly a one-off single, and thus far, the band have yet to announce a follow-up to their debut, which landed among Exclaim!'s 50 Best Albums of 2021.

You can catch the band performing "Sheets of Grey" and other tunes on tour this March. They'll play Vancouver, Toronto and Montreal, as well as several American and UK cities along the way. Hear their latest and check out their upcoming tour dates below.
