Obama Gives Drake, Leonard Cohen, boygenius His Seal of Approval — Much to Lucy Dacus's Dismay

The boygenius member called the former president a "war criminal"

Barack Obama shared his annual summer playlist, and no, he didn't have a team of Exclaim! goblins making it for him — but the compilation being headlined by two Canadians might make it seem that way.

These lists are usually an eclectic blend of classics and contemporary hits, and the Canadian selections — Drake's new collaboration with UK rapper J Hus, "Who Told You," and a live rendition of Leonard Cohen's 1984 jazz-tinged pop hit "Dance Me to the End of Love" — definitely reflect that.

While Leonard Cohen is a newer addition to the lore, Drake is no stranger to Obama's playlists. Who knows, maybe it's a subtle plea for Drake to play him in a future biopic.

Obama rounds out the list with music from SZA, the Rolling Stones, Ice Spice and Nicki MinajKelela, the Beths and more.

Recent cover stars boygenius also made the cut, although at least one of the geniuses in question wasn't happy about it. Outspoken Bernie Sanders supporter Lucy Dacus took to Twitter to express her displeasure at her group's inclusion, calling Obama a "war criminal."

Her tweet went viral, garnering over eight million views. The comment section was torn; several people agreed, while others pointed out that Obama has, in fact, never been charged with a war crime.
