Dr. Dog have been powering on for well over a decade now, and the Pennsylvania indie rock band will keep the new music coming this year via an album for Anti-. Their third album for the label — and their eighth overall — is called B-Room, which will arrive October 1.
The album was recorded in the band's new self-built studio, located within a converted silversmith mill. According to a press release, the result "is the culmination of a complete overhaul of the band's writing and recording process."
The album contains 12 soul-flavoured tracks. Singer-lead guitarist Scott McMicken explained in a statement, "The hallmark of soul music for me is that the arrangements are simple rather than virtuosic, and that the sound creates a feeling that is intuitive rather than intellectual."
For a taste of this, check out a lyric video for the slow-moving, softly reflective soul-pop number "The Truth," which is said to be inspired by Gamble & Huff. Scroll past the tracklist to check it out.
