Get your tissues ready: Sarnia-born, Toronto-based singer-songwriter Donovan Woods has announced a brand new EP of his signature brand of tender folk songs. He's also giving us a taste of what's to come with new single "I Won't Mention It Again."

The stork is set to deliver Big Hurt Boy on March 18 via Woods' own End Times Music. It marks the follow-up to his 2020 LP Without People.

Toronto pop artist Ralph features on one of the tracks in the six-song collection, which Woods says is an exploration of our failures and how they — and our interpretations of and fixations on them — inform our lives.

"I write about them again and again, just hoping people will still be interested," the singer-songwriter said in a statement. "So the title is poking fun of myself — that I'm theoretically this big, sad guy who keeps getting dumped and writing fucking songs about it."

Big Sad Boy was largely recorded live, with Woods looking to get back to the "undone" quality of his early recordings.

The new single "I Won't Mention It Again" follows last fall's "I Hope You Change Your Mind," expanding from just the artist's voice and a banjo line to a harmony-bathed ballad brimming with rich layers of texture.

2. Leave When You Go (ft. Ralph)

Woods is scheduled to embark on a cross-country Canadian tour this spring.
