Dinky

Anemik

BY Marinko JarebPublished Jan 22, 2010

One of my favourite artists, Chile's Dinky (aka Alejandra Iglesias), continues to create beautiful, multifaceted electronic music with dark pop sensibilities. Her third full-length album to date, Anemik, on Canada's Wagon Repair, consists of 13 tracks of brilliantly tender techno. Half ambient and half rhythm-driven, there is an otherworldly sonic spectrum that's difficult to describe but is an undercurrent on most of Dinky's work. Her most well known track, "Acid In My Fridge," is paradoxically her least psychedelic, but the material on Anemik is a testament to Dinky's persistent ability to conjure up audio environments for your mind and the dance floor.
