Dead Quiet, a new stoner band coming out of Vancouver, might not be doing anything incredibly new, exciting or innovative with their sound, but they are playing solid doom, and doing a good job of it.

Their debut, self-titled record can be purchased digitally for $10 from Bandcamp, or simply streamed there. The trippy cover with the old school sci-fi book vibe automatically sets the listener up for an atmosphere of campy fun with serious undertones. Every song on this record is heavy and catchy but highlights include "The Sorceress," whose catchy intro track is reminiscent of older Mastodon or the Sword, and "Home Is Where You Go To Die," one of the heaviest songs on the record. Throughout, they keep things rolling with heavy, pummelling riffs that flow into each other, and have what it takes to keep happy those who crave the heavy, but might be into straightforward rock too.
