David Lynch's 'Lost Highway' Soundtrack Comes Back to Vinyl

BY Brock ThiessenPublished Oct 3, 2016

While David Lynch continues to tease us with Twin Peaks micro-trailers for its upcoming return, a light is being shone on the director's earlier career once again. This time it's his 1997 feature Lost Highway, the soundtrack for which is set to get a fresh vinyl release.

Following the recent vinyl reissue of the Twin Peaks soundtrack, Lost Highway will reemerge on wax via Music on Vinyl come November 4, if newly surfaced retail listings are to be believed. This will mark the first time the release has arrived on vinyl via non-bootleg form since its original release in 1996.

Produced by Nine Inch Nails mastermind Trent Reznor, the soundtrack is a dark and eclectic piece of work. Not only did NIN contribute the exclusive track "The Perfect Drug" and Reznor's "Driver Down," but the soundtrack features everyone from the Smashing Pumpkins, David Bowie, Lou Reed, Rammstein, Marilyn Manson and Antonio Carlos Jobim. Of course, Lynch's main film scorer, Angelo Badalamenti, also makes several contributions to the album.

While no pre-order links have popped up via Music on Vinyl directly, you can order the new vinyl edition here via UK retailer Norman Records. The reissue will arrive as a double-LP on 180-gram yellow vinyl. It will be limited to a numbered edition of 2,000.

As for Twin Peaks, the show is set to return to TV come 2017.
