Trent Reznor is gearing up for the return of Nine Inch Nails, revealing that he and Atticus Ross are currently hammering out a new project for the group.

Reznor shared the news in conversation with The Hollywood Reporter about scoring films alongside Ross.

The profile notes that Reznor and Ross have released seven movie scores since the last Nine Inch Nails albums, 2020's Ghosts V: Together and Ghosts VI: Locusts.

"Over the last 10 years or so, I've been a bit disillusioned by popular music," Reznor shared of his career reinvention. "As I get older, some things feel less relatable to me. The business sucks. The way people consume music is not as inspiring as it used to be, it's marginalized in a lot of ways. Scoring has provided a way for me to feel vital, to feel challenged."

After creating the soundtrack to Luca Guadagnino's Challengers this year, and with a score for a new Tron film on the horizon, the two are ready to turn back to NIN.

Says Reznor, "We're taking the inspiration we've garnered and funnelling it into a Nine Inch Nails project, which we're working on now. We're ready to be back in the driver's seat."
