David Celia

"The Grind" (video)

Think that rock musicians are a bunch of slackers? Think again. Toronto songwriter David Celia has shared a video for his new single "The Grind," and it shows just how much work being a musician can be.

The clip for this folk-rock tune shows Celia waking up in the morning and tidying himself up before throwing himself into the grind of work. For him, this means busking with his acoustic guitar, hitting the road in a snazzy-looking Beetle, and conducting plenty of business of his iPhone. Meanwhile, the lyrics offer some guidance and comfort for folks going about their lives.

The video was directed by Andrew Neary in Scotland. Watch it below. The digital single for "The Grind," which includes the B-side "Speak to Me," is also below.

The album Double Mind is due out this spring. It was mixed by Andy Magoffin (Constantines, Great Lake Swimmers, the Hidden Cameras). In the meantime, Celia plays live at the the Cameron House in Toronto every Friday evening.
