The Darkness Announce North American Dates, Play Toronto

BY Gregory AdamsPublished Dec 5, 2011

If your mind exploded this past spring over news that helium-voiced cock rockers the Darkness got back together, you're probably going to go a little nuts this morning: the English outfit have just announced a spate of North American tour dates for 2012.

"NORTH AMERICA! BITE DOWN ON THIS, BABY," the band wrote on their Facebook page of the 13-date trip. The whole thing kicks off in Canada on February 1, with a stop at Toronto's Phoenix Theatre. Don't fret if you're not from the T-dot; the band might be coming to your town sooner than you think.

"This trip's a bit of a whistlestop, toe back in the water, type affair. so we apologise if your particular town / state is not amongst this set of dates," they wrote.

While no doubt relishing in past glories like "I Believe in a Thing Called Love," the Darkness will also be unveiling a host of new tracks singer/guitarist Justin Hawkins has been writing with his axe-slinging brother Danny. Oddly, an interview with Rolling Stone reveals that one of the new tracks is called "I Can't Believe It's Not Love."

"It's an acoustic-y, swing-y one with a massive guitar solo in the middle," he said of the cut. "Then there's another song called 'Nothing's Gonna Stop Us,' which has been in the set for a while. There are probably seven or eight tracks we've actually done live, all of which will make it onto the record probably."

While a release date for their as-yet-untitled LP hasn't been set, the Darkness will head into a Nashville-area recording studio to track it this January.
