Dar Williams made her name playing the coffee shop folk circuit. Out There Live is the Massachusetts native fifth release, which compiles live renditions from her body of studio recordings. Unfortunately, this is an unremarkable CD and falls squarely in the earnest female singer/songwriter pigeonhole. The intros are a nice touch, but other than that none of the songs particularly stand out. Out There Live is clearly for Williams' fans, but it falls short as an introduction for the uninitiated.
