Finally an album that lives up to it's title! Da Beatminerz deliver the straight
goods featuring rap aficionado's like KRS-One, Wordsworth, J-Live,
Krumbsnatcha, Jean Grae, Mystic and many more. It's no surprise that the
Minerz (Mr. Walt and DJ Evil Dee of Black Moon) come correct with
"deep-in-the crates style beats" that actually work with the emcee, which
is where so many compilations fail. Dirty, grimy, bass heavy beats is what the Minerz are known for, having produced for big players like Boot Camp Click, Eminem, M.O.P., De La Soul, the Pharcyde and Dilated Peoples. This album is laced with quality emcees that drop pretty dope verses over ill beats. The 13 solid tracks feature standout joints from
Wordsworth, Jean Grae and the Last Emperor (with the Lloyd Parks-inspired
"Mafia Don"). One of the dopest tracks comes from underrated Bay area
emcee/songstress, Mystic, on "Pull Your Card," as she pulls the card out on
fake thugs, riled up shit-talking drunkards and white boys who think they own hip-hop. Don't sleep.
