Cursive's Tim Kasher Announces New Solo LP, North American Tour Dates

BY Gregory AdamsPublished Jul 24, 2013

Now that Nebraskan emo outfit Cursive have wrapped up their promotion cycle behind 2012's I Am Gemini, band leader Tim Kasher is getting ready to release another LP on his own. Titled Adult Film, his sophomore solo effort drops October 8 via Saddle Creek.

A press release notes that the new LP is "less ornate" than Kasher's orchestral 2010 outing Game of Monogamy, though it apparently still showcases the songwriter's "signature blend of ruminative rock/pop."

The 10-song set was mixed by John Congleton (St. Vincent, Wye Oak, Explosions in the Sky) at Dallas, TX's Elmwood Recording and reportedly has Kasher weighing in on topics like mortality and personal relationships again. Samples from the record have yet to arrive, but you can see the tracklisting down below and the album art above.

Backing up Kasher on Adult Film is his live band of bassist Sara Bertuldo, organ and horn player Patrick Newbery, and drummer Dylan Ryan. Guest performers on the album include Make Believe/Joan of Arc member Nate Kinsella and Laura Stevenson.

Pre-orders for the set and a 7-inch release for album track "Truly Freaking Out," which will be issued September 10, are being taken now over on the Saddle Creek website.

Additionally, Kasher and his band will take Adult Film out on the road come October, with an upcoming Canadian appearance scheduled in Vancouver. Supporting Kasher on all dates will be Laura Stevenson and the Cans. You'll find the tour info beneath the tracklisting.
