When Cuff the Duke signed to Paper Bag Records and announced Morning Comes last year, the Ontario roots rock outfit promised that it was the first of a planned two-part album. Keeping to their word, the band have now detailed the companion album, Union, which will be out on October 2 via Paper Bag.
According to a press release, Morning Comes and Union "relate lyrically and visually," with several of the new tunes functioning "as a response to the songs from Morning Comes." In a great feat of timing, Union will be out almost exactly a year after Morning Comes (which dropped on October 4 of last year).
Despite the links between the two discs, there will be some differences as well. "On Union, we moved away from our usual-sounding song structures, rock solos and harmonies by adding more sonic textures," said frontman Wayne Petti in a statement. "Morning Comes was more acoustic-based, this album is more electric-based. Instead of trying to find the perfect tone, it was more about exploring interesting sounds."
You can see the artwork above and the tracklist below. At the bottom page is also a live acoustic video for the new Union single "Side by Side," which was recorded for the Paper Bag Sessions. If you like what you hear, pre-order the album here.
On top of all the new album news, Cuff the Duke will be hitting the road once again on a Canadian tour. There are dates from BC to Quebec, and the bulk of the fall shows are with Jenn Grant, who also has a new album of her own on the way. The entire schedule is also below.
