The Creepshow

The problem with psychobilly is that it doesn't offer much room for bands to be original and find their own sound. There's only so much you can do with a genre so steeped in tradition and formula, which makes what the Creepshow have done with Run For Your Life all the more impressive. The songs exude energy often absent from their peers. Numbers like "Rue Morgue Radio," while well entrenched in the psychobilly sound, also manage to deliver an old school punk vibe with some high-octane tempos and fist-pumping sing-alongs. Sarah Sin's vocals shine and are made better by her male counterparts taking over the occasional lead, giving the record a well-rounded, cohesive feel where no member is front and centre more than the others. Run For Your Life is a perfect example of what a band can do if they have enough passion for what they're doing and enough ingenuity to keep it interesting.
