Courtney Love wrote some of the most enduring, perfect rock songs of the 1990s. She's spent the following decades releasing a smattering of solo and semi-solo material (her solo debut America's Sweetheart came out in 2004, while 2010's Nobody's Daughter was attributed to Hole despite Love being the only member involved). Now it seems she's planning to return with what she's calling "the longest record that's ever been written in the history of rock."
On Wednesday (October 25), Love shared several short teasers of herself singing and lip-syncing along to recorded songs on her previously dormant "unofficial" TikTok account. In one video, she explains that the album she's been working on is coming around "Christmas, if we're lucky":
"It's Courtney, hi. I'm not going to have an official TikTok. I'm just gonna upload some teasers from my album that's coming out… Christmas, if we're lucky. I'm just gonna upload some teasers. This is not an official page. If you get this in your For You page, then the AI is listening. There's just some songs, little bits… I'm not giving too much away from my album which is probably out Christmas."
She says in another video that she thinks her new record is "the longest record that's ever been written in the history of rock, so it better fuckin' be good, no filler."
There's a whole bunch of brief song teasers on the account, with snippets ranging from what sounds like a couple piano ballads to an alt-country tune and some straight-up grunge rockers. You can listen to a couple of them below.
Earlier this week, Love and Kurt Cobain's daughter, Frances Bean Cobain, got married to Riley Hawk — son of Tony — at a ceremony officiated by Michael Stipe.
