Courtney Barnett is the next artist tapped to deliver a slab of wax as part of Third Man Records' "Blue Series" of 7-inch singles, and will use one side of her record to tribute her Aussie countrymen. Before the vinyl officially hits your turntable, you can stream her cover of the Nick Cave-fronted Boys Next Door's signature song, "Shivers."
Barnett's interpretation sits on the B-side of her record, and finds her delivering the bittersweet, suicide-pondering song with a weathered quiver that matches her tremolo-touched six-string work. It's a fairly straightforward run-through of the Rowland S. Howard-penned classic, but it should send a shiver down your spine.
You'll find a stream of Barnett's "Shivers" down below.
As for the A-side, Barnett's "Boxing Day Blues Revisited" is a follow-up to her Sometimes I Sit and Think, and Sometimes I Just Sit track, "Boxing Day Blues." Both it and the cover land October 16 via Third Man/Milk Records!/Remote Control.
