Aussie singer-songwriter Courtney Barnett dropped her debut LP Sometimes I Sit and Think, and Sometimes I Just Sit earlier this year, and now she's given album cut "Dead" Fox the visual treatment.
The animated clip was directed and designed by Rory Kerr and Paul Ruttledg, who shared the following statement:
We liked how politically loaded and conversational the lyrics are. We wanted the animation to have a stylistic and organic look, hence most of the drawings were done on paper rather than digitally. To further compliment the lyrics, we thought it would be funny to have the animals in the video look as cynical as possible, as if they'd had enough with how humans are treating them.
This sentiment is brought to life thanks to an array of eccentric, animated characters like a goose driving a fruit cart, a shark in a ferocious-looking sports car (well, at first) and a particularly sinister cigarette-smoking, truck-driving fox. A cartoon version of Courtney also appears.
Sometimes I Sit and Think, and Sometimes I Just Sit is out now on Mom + Pop. Check out the video for "Dead Fox" below.
