Circle Jerks Tap Tony Hawk, Ian MacKaye, Mike Patton for 'Group Sex' 40th Anniversary Reissue

BY Josiah HughesPublished Oct 1, 2020

Punk legends Circle Jerks had planned to reunite and take their classic 1980 album Group Sex on a 2020 tour but, of course, that didn't pan out. Instead, they've announced plans for a deluxe vinyl reissue of the album.

The re-release edition includes new packaging from Robert Fisher (who also did Nirvana's Nevermind), rehearsal recordings from 1980 and a 20-page booklet that includes contributions from people like Tony Hawk, Ian MacKaye, Shepard Fairey, Lars Frederikson and Mike Patton

The release is coming on October 30 via Trust Records, a new imprint from Matt Pincus and Joe Nelson.

"Before they had a name for the label Matt and Joe came to [us] with an opportunity of a lifetime," the band's Keith Morris said in a statement. "So choosing the name Trust Records is very appropriate as they've been nothing short of trustworthy and people of their word. That's insanely important when navigating through the music branch of showbiz world!"
