even they cant deny the overpowering influence of Motörhead. Comprised of (mostly former) members of Dimmu Borgir, the Kovenant and Ashes To Ashes, Chrome Division prove that even the most diehard black metaller still feels a stronger loyalty to solid rocknroll than they ever would to corpse paint and battleaxes. Taking the gritty vocal attack and confident pacing from good ol Lemmy and crew, but mixing in a touch more of Panteras ferocity, Black Label Societys boozy groove and the occasional rockabilly twang for good measure, Doomsday Rock N Roll is what one would expect from a bunch of detuned distortion mongers trying to sound more like AC/DC than Emperor. Slick in production but somewhat juvenile in its overall assault, a lot of the album needs fewer showy flails and more straight up grinding. Overall though, the effort has stable roots and room to grow if the band replaces their "creepy black metal image for the "indifferent rocknroll one.
