Christina Aguilera's "Beautiful" Remake Wants You to Know That Phones Are Bad

It's fair to say social media has brought new mental health concerns to the world over the last 20 years, and Christina Aguilera wants you to know how much she misses the good ol' days. In an effort to modernize the message behind her 2002 hit "Beautiful," the singer has released an updated music video for the track with a very on the nose message: phones are bad.

Though it also tackles body image issues, many of the video's scenes depict the dangers of phones, some of which we didn't even know existed. Starting with general phone anxiety and moving to kids using their phones to film plastic surgery consults, the video ends with an image of a bleeding phone.

"Social media has transformed our relationship with our bodies, and in turn, our mental health. When you need a little more guidance and care to take charge of your mental health, these organizations are here for you," reads the video's caption, which links to mental health hotlines.

The video comes as Aguilera kicks off the 20th anniversary celebration of her breakout album Stripped. On Friday (October 21), she will release a deluxe digital edition of the album with new album art and bonus tracks.
