Montreal singer Charlotte Cardin's debut EP Big Boy was her artistic departure from her time on the commercial French Canadian TV talent show La Voix. She no longer needs to prove her talent, and she's since been making a name for herself with high-profile performances at Osheaga, Festival de Musique Emergente and the Global Citizen Concert. We caught up with her at Burdock in Toronto for a performance of "Dirty Dirty."
Cardin begins gently playing piano and gives a small chuckle to one of her bandmates as she croons, "You're not easily impressed / Baby, I got more under my dress but you won't twitch." Her voice bears a striking resemblance to Amy Winehouse, but Cardin's sound is all her own, as the electro sounds complement her soulful voice to produce a memorable song about unrequited love.
