Charli XCX has released her long-teased new single "Good Ones."
First announced back at the beginning of August, It's a propulsive '80s-meets-2000s banger that sprints by in just over 2 minutes. There's some heavy Eurythmics energy in the elastic synth line, and it marks a departure from Charli's more glitched-out oeuvre.
The Hannah Lux David-directed video leans big-time into the dark-sided, funereal imagery that's been popping up on Charli's socials lately — looks like her "evil era" is officially here.
From the palatable production, highly choreographed video and Charli's recent foray into an ironic sell-out narrative, "Good Ones" definitely feels like a shot at some mainstream success after a string of more experimental work.
No official word yet on whether an album is on the way.
