Cass McCombs

"Big Wheel" (video)

Cass McCombs dropped his epic double album Big Wheel and Others back in the fall, and as he continues to tour in support of the collection, he has shared a music video for "Big Wheel."

The song is a groove-driven roots number, and the video reinforces the slightly threatening mood with cryptically disconnected images of everything from nature to classical paintings to TV clips to colour-tweaked cityscapes. Meanwhile, seemingly random words and phrases pop up on the screen.

The video was directed by Albert Herter. According to a press release, "Its chaotic, clashing imagery and oblique sloganeering are the perfect accompaniment to a song that see McCombs subtlety, yet powerfully dismantle generally agreed notions of Western masculinity and identity with his uniquely irreverent wit and insight."
