Cartel Madras have returned with their second single of the year, a Tyris White-produced entry in their growing collection of singles tied to their forthcoming project, The Serpent and the Tiger. Their latest — a song titled "Dream Girl Concept" — arrives through Royal Mountain Records/Sub Pop today.

For the release, the Cartel Madras sister duo of Eboshi and Contra have also released an accompanying self-directed video featuring a cameo from Calgary queen Desmond "Dayna" Douglas.

"In 2021, so much seems illusory or bound to sensations pursued through technology," the group said of the release. "'Dream Girl Concept' is a moody, lush, cyber-funk letter to those feelings. Propelled by vaporwave, house and hyper pop sensibilities, 'Dream Girl Concept' had us experimenting in a sonic and visual landscape that is purely indulgent."

They added: "We have been writing to Tyris White beats for years, so it was amazing to get the chance to work with him for this project. We also teamed up again with Jide, producer of 'WORKING,' who has mastered the art of building atmosphere."

Both "Dream Girl Concept" and "WORKING," as well as the group's most recent single "DRIFT," will appear on The Serpent and the Tiger, which is expected to arrive later this year. The release will mark the third instalment of the duo's Project Goonda trilogy, which includes 2018's Trapistan and 2019's Age of the Goonda.
