In a true (beautiful, harmonious) clash of the CanCon titans, Carly Rae Jepsen's forthcoming new album The Loneliest Time features a lone collaboration with none other than fellow canonist Rufus Wainwright — and we get to hear it this Friday (October 7).

After displaying undeniable collaborative prowess with Jack Antonoff's Bleachers at their co-headlining Toronto show, Jepsen will join forces with someone who seems so obvious a synergistic teammate for her inner theatre kid and tried-and-true crafter of timeless songs.

The pop star shared the news on Instagram, writing, "I can't believe I finally get to say this… The Loneliest Time (the song) ft @rufuswainwright comes out this Friday. If you like 5-part string sections, 4:30+ track lengths, and disco power ballads… you might want to tap that little bell in the bottom left corner."

Five-part string section? Songs longer than four-and-a-half minutes? Disco power ballads? We're listening...

The Loneliest Time is due October 21 — you can't forget, because it's the same day as Taylor Swift's Midnights — and follows 2019's Dedicated. Her duet with Wainright will be the third song released so far, after "Western Wind," "Beach House" and "Talking to Yourself."
