October 21: it's a big day for pop music fans! Both Taylor Swift and Carly Rae Jepsen are releasing their new albums that day — a fact that Jepsen called attention to in a self-deprecating comment last night (September 28) on stage.

CRJ played New York, NY's Radio City Music Hall last night, and she reminded everyone about The Loneliest Time, telling the crowd, "My new album will be released on October 21. It should be easy to remember because it's the same day Taylor Swift is putting out hers." She then threw her jacket across the stage, just to drive the point home.

It's unfortunate timing for Jepsen, since she announced The Loneliest Time on August 2; Swift revealed her album, Midnights, nearly a month later, on August 29. Not that Jepsen was ever realistically gunning for a No. 1 album — 2019's Dedicated debuted at No. 18 in the US and No. 16 in Canada — but she's certainly not going to top Swift.

Exclaim! recently reviewed Jepsen's Toronto show with Bleachers.
