Carey Ott

Singer-songwriter Carey Ott rarely makes it up north from his home-base in Nashville, TN so any appearance is a treat. Making his debut with a three-piece band, Ott lead the quartet through cuts from his sophomore disc Human Heart. The band took the opportunity to stretch out a bit, jamming out and even leading the crowd in a sing-along during the breakdown to "Ain't No Upside Living on the Downside." Ott's enthusiasm was palpable, further helping to win over the small but surprisingly attentive crowd in the cavernous Neutral. Classic pop songwriters like Ott are the kind of performers that can easily get lost in the slew of flashy acts that appear at events like CMW. Thankfully, his talent was able to shine through.
