Well, mystery solved. Earlier this month, Bruce Springsteen had us scratching our heads with a cryptic website update that said "coming soon" and included a photo of a man hacking a pile of wood with an axe. Now, the Boss has announced that he's releasing a short film.
A new update features the same axe-welding image along with the title Hunter of Invisible Game, which is the name of a song from last year's High Hopes (listen below). A caption reads, "A short film by Thom Zimny & Bruce Springsteen." We're guessing that this means Springsteen co-directed it.
The film will be released on July 9 at noon EDT through Springsteen's website.
Springsteen previously revealed that Zimny had directed a "beautiful" music video for "Hunter of Invisible Game," and we speculated that this might be the "coming soon" announcement in question. It seems that they've since upgraded it from a music video to a short film.
Stay tuned for the film to emerge next Wednesday.
Although this is good news for Boss fans, it may come as a disappointment for those hoping that the "coming soon" announcement referred to the rocker's previously discussed plans to release some classic live shows from the archives.
