Britney Spears has come out of her self-imposed social media hiatus to address fans, after they staged supposedly misguided protests earlier this week.
In a new video clip posted to Instagram, Spears says, "Just checking in with all of you who are concerned about me. All is well. My family has been going through a lot stress and anxiety, so I just needed time to deal. But, don't worry, I'll be back very soon."
She elaborated in the caption, adding, "I am trying to take a moment for myself, but everything that's happening is just making it harder for me."
Spears also urged fans not to believe everything being said about her situation, assuring followers, "I am strong, and stand up for what I want!"
She also referenced "fake emails" that are circulating and claimed that they were written years ago by her former manager, Sam Lutfi.
Lutfi has denied writing the emails and insinuated that Spears' team is behind the new video post.
He went on to retweet another post, which implies that Spears did not post the video message of her own volition.
As previously reported, Spears cancelled her upcoming Las Vegas show last year after her father was hospitalized due to a ruptured colon. "It's important to always put your family first… and that's the decision I had to make," she said at the time.
