Canada's biggest music school, the Royal Conservatory of Music, will award an honorary fellowship to Blue Rodeo. Members of the rock group will be recognised for their contribution to the arts. The Royal Occasion Gala, a yearly celebration of musical excellence at the venerable music school will be held in Toronto on May 22. Each year Canadian artists that have made a lasting contribution to the arts are bestowed the award.
"We're proud to recognise the achievements of Blue Rodeo, a celebrated group of musicians who embody the artistic potential that the Royal Conservatory of Music is committed to developing," Peter Simon, president of the conservatory told CBC.
Blue Rodeo are scheduled to play at the conservatorys fundraiser gala to help pay for the RCMs $110-million renovation.
