Illinois-raised, L.A.-based R&B singer BJ the Chicago Kid is currently putting work into his proper Motown Records debut, but a few details have surfaced behind the impending set. Notably, his In My Mind will apparently have guest spot from big hitters including Chi-Town's Chance the Rapper and longtime collaborator Kendrick Lamar.
A due date has yet to be affixed to the full-length, but BJ the Chicago Kid did host a listening session behind the release in New York earlier this week. The night also included a performance from the artist.
Now, Hot New Hip Hop reports that the artist's major label debut is set to feature guest spots from Lamar, Chance, and TDE rapper Jay Rock. It's also inferred that BJ's recent "That Girl" single with OG Maco will be present on the platter.
This won't be the first time BJ the Chicago Kid has worked with Lamar. Both King Kendrick and Schoolboy Q popped up on a recent remix of the R&B singer's "It's True", while Lamar had also shown up on "His Pain" from BJ's 2012 LP, Pineapple Now-Laters.
BJ the Chicago Kid's TDE connections run deep, with the singer having delivered the hook to Schoolboy Q's "Studio," and appeared on tracks by Lamar, Ab-Soul and more.
BJ had also previously teamed-up with Chance on the rapper's 2013 mixtape Acid Rap, where he added vocals to "Everybody's Something." Chance the Rapper retweeted Hot New Hip Hop's tweet today (July 23) announcing his participation on In My Mind.
While In My Mind will acts as the proper follow-up to Pineapple Now-Laters, BJ the Chicago Kid delivered his The M.A.F.E. Project mixtape near the end of 2014.
