After social media was flooded last night with rumours that Biz Markie had died, the manager of the veteran rapper has stepped forward to tell everyone Biz Markie is very much alive.
Manager Jenni Izumi issued a statement last night (June 30) confirming that Biz Markie is still with us, though currently under medical care.
"The news of Biz Markie's passing is not true," Izumi said in a statement. "Biz is still under medical care, surrounded by professionals who are working hard to provide the best health care possible. Biz's wife and family are touched by the outpouring of love and admiration from his friends, peers and fans alike. At this time, we ask for your continued thoughts and prayers during this difficult time."
The death rumours follow the 57-year-old rapper's various heath struggles in recent years. In 2020, the artist born Marcel Theo Hall was hospitalized due to complications with type 2 diabetes, while earlier this year it was reported by longtime collaborator Big Daddy Kane that Biz Markie had suffered a stroke.
