A voice, a sitar, a MiniDisc and a dress out of a ’60s sci-fi flick. That’s how this British lady of Indian descent works her magic, playing everything from the traditional Robbie Burns-derived "Three Ravens” to her disco dance single "Never Seen Your Face.” The tablas and electronic beats bounced beautifully off the sitar’s assertive tones, winning the crowd’s respect, and Bishi’s friendly, funny stage presence won their hearts too — she joked about the suspicion that she and headliner Patrick Wolf elicited at the border, and occasionally struck rock guitar poses with her sitar, quite a sight in gold lamé alien threads.
