Proving there's no portmanteau Big Boi to hefty to heave our way as part of his "Mashup Mondays" series, the Atlanta rap vet has unveiled his beastly new "Gossip" revamp, the Blue Oyster Cult-sampling "Gossipzilla."
As you may have guessed, the track re-contextualizes the bars from Big Boi's Vicious Lies and Dangerous Rumors single, which also features Big K.R.I.T. and UGK, around the bong-blazing, bend-heavy riffery of BOC's "Godzilla." While old-schoolers 3rd Bass may have beat Big Boi to the sample some 20 years ago, this still makes for a monster pairing. Especially if you imagine the refrain of "we on fire" now has something to do with the flame-shooting maw of a rampaging kaiju.
