Four years since they last played Guelph, the reunited Bicycles were warmly received by an excited crowd. In their heyday, the band's playful pop was bolstered by sly theatricality — things like matching outfits and a manic sense of fun. Here, they eased back into the spotlight, expending their energy on playing new songs from Stop Thinking So Much correctly. Drummer Dana Snell sang her lovely "Appalachian Mountain Station" and the band clearly loved playing the clever invention known as "Bandana Cat." People love cute cats. And people loved hearing the Bicycles again, which is a testament to their catchy-ass songwriting. It wasn't as wild and radical a show as they've been known to put on but their arrangements and musicianship were as surprising as ever.
