Bent By Elephants

This is Water

BY Jessica LewisPublished May 11, 2010

Last we heard of this Montreal jazz rock band was last year when they finished their first EP, gained a few members and were excited to record their full-length. This is Water is here and it feels like it's been painted piece by piece. Helped by the producing from Jace Lasek (Wolf Parade, Land of Talk), the album should establish the band as great musicians and songwriters. It includes some of the classics from the EP, but the new ones have a much brighter light to shine now. Each song has its precious characteristics, making the album a touching listening experience. It goes from songs that change every few steps to feeling like you're walking by the Siene in Paris to admiring how well they use the saw as an instrument. The band need to work on getting out to more eyes and ears, but once they do, they won't be able to leave.
