Beefs 2014: Azealia Banks Begs Universal to Drop Her

Never one to shy away from airing personal grievances, Harlem rapper Azealia Banks has put her record label, Universal, on blast in a series of new tweets.

Banks' long-awaited debut album Broke With Expensive Taste has been perpetually delayed. According to Banks, the problem stems from her label not knowing how to deal with her.

Over the weekend, the performer addressed her label with the following string of tweets:

I REALLY should have signed with Sony. Can someone at Sony buy me off of Universal please?? i'm really in hell here. Please Help : Serious Inquiry. I would literally give anything to be on XL right now. I'm tired of having to consult a group of old white guys about my black girl craft. they don't even know what they're listening for or to. I'm literally begging to be dropped from Universal. Universal needs to just hand me over to another label who knows what to do with me. My fans really need some new music. I've been gratefully riding off of mixtape fumes for the past two years but I'm more ready than ever.

Closing out the tweets, she wrote, "I had a nice cry, now I'm going to get some wings. #lifeofahumancommodity #universaldoesntcare #theyreatthegrammys #hotwings."

From there, Banks said what some Canadians may find her most offensive statement yet — that Degrassi: The Next Generation is better than the original Degrassi show.

Only time will tell if Banks' anti-Universal rant results in any sort of change. Her Pharrell-assisted single "ATM Jam" can be heard below.
