The Beauties deftly began with a slow love song that helped prep listeners' ears for some of their louder fare. "Now that I've given you my heart, how about I rev it up a little bit?" Darin McConnell asked, before launching into a slew of rock-meets-roots songs. Most entertaining was a series of frantic exchanges between drummer Derek Downham and an overeager tech hand, whose cartoonish sprints back and forth across the stage and undying efforts to rectify the ever-increasing technical difficulties played out as the band played a particularly fast-paced song.

Though later technical difficulties and balance issues between instruments proved distracting, the sing along of Holly Golightly & the Brokeoffs' "Ain't Nobody Gonna Love You Like the Devil Do" was a smash hit and the Beauties had everyone in the Palace Grand — from the "commoners" down below all the way up to the more early-arriving balcony dwellers — belting out the song's chorus at various volumes.
